FAQs

How long does it take to learn Spanish?

We’ll get you speaking Spanish from day one – but for fluency, a Foreign Service Institute study suggested it takes around 600-750 classroom hours to be fluent in Spanish! But don’t let that put you off, you don’t need to be a native or a near-native level to enjoy and immerse in Spanish. Time is relevant to you as a student, whether it be your determination, motivation & commitment to learning. With the detailed learning plan (with resources) we provide you, along with 24/7 support from professional teachers, your Spanish learning will not only be more comprehensive but also quicker. Ultimately, time commitment will determine how quickly you learn; for example: a student who can commit to 1 hour per day will learn quicker than those who can commit for 1 hour per week.

Are there any at-home resources I can use to help my Spanish outside the classroom?

Yes! Outside of the classroom resources, there are plenty of ways to immerse yourself into the language without even thinking about it. Typically, learning a language includes classroom time, self study and practising with others in Spanish, but there are other ways too – try listening to music or movies in Spanish, or reading books and the news in another language – this way you’re practising your reading, listening and even speaking without realising!

Should I Learn on my own or in a class?

Both learning alone and with others are great experiences, but it depends on the type of person you are. If you prefer to self-study and learn via reading books, listening to podcasts and watching tv programmes, then studying alone in a course may be more beneficial to you. If you are more of a social learner, who learns better through talking to people and being supported by other classmates, then a class may be more suited to you. Either types of learning are great tools and sometimes a mixture of both can be just as helpful.

Why Should I Learn Spanish?

Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world.  With around 595 million speakers on the planet, it can open new opportunities for you- from work, to emigrating & travelling. If you are working or studying in a Spanish speaking country, then learning the language is imperative. It allows for a deeper understanding in culture and can make all aspects of life easier while living in a Spanish speaking country!
